Dr. Shazetta Thompson-Hill

Dr. Shazetta Thompson-Hill’s journey with India began at the age of 8 when she accompanied her missionary parents on their service to the country. Growing up amidst the vibrant tapestry of Indian culture, she developed a deep connection to the land and its people. As the daughter of missionary parents, she witnessed firsthand the power of service and compassion in bridging cultural divides. Throughout her life, and as an ordained clergy person, Dr. Shazetta wears many hats, from seminary professor, university chaplain, and avid photographer. Yet, amidst her diverse roles and experiences, India has remained a singular place of significance—a centering space where she feels most connected to her purpose and spirituality. Driven by her profound connection to India, Dr. Shazetta has continued to return to the country many times since her childhood. Each visit deepens her understanding of its rich religious history, diverse cultural heritage, and breathtaking natural beauty. For Dr. Shazetta, India is more than just a destination; it's a sanctuary where she finds inspiration, solace, and a sense of belonging. As the Director of Sarayu Sojourns, she is committed to sharing the transformative power of India's spiritual landscape with fellow seekers, guiding them on journeys of self-discovery, cultural immersion, and personal growth.
